Spring is here and soon it will be some of the hottest months of the year. Your freezer’s ice maker is a great convenience. It helps you stay cool on those warm summer days. Make sure your beverages stay icy cold. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If something goes wrong and your ice maker isn’t working the way it’s supposed to, before you start making ice manually in trays, or buying bags of ice, try these simple fixes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are 4 common ice maker problems and how you can fix them.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

1. Ice Maker Stopped Producing Ice<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The most common cause for this is that the ice maker is turned off. Check to see if the shut off arm is in the up position. If so, lower the arm to turn the unit on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Ice Maker Is Making Too Much Ice<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A common cause for this condition is that the shut off arm has detached from the ice maker. Most times this can be reattached easily. After reattaching the arm, make sure the unit is on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Ice Maker Will Not Eject<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

If this occurs, make certain that your freezer is cold enough. Ice makers do not go through \u201charvest\u201d cycles until they reach approximately 10 degrees F. A dirty condenser coil is usually the culprit here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Ice Maker Is Frozen<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

An ice maker that has too much ice buildup on it is either an internal failure of the ice maker or the water valve letting water in when it is off. However, before calling for service, you may want to defrost the unit completely to see if the condition repeats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
