In Part 1, we give you tips for the well-being of your refrigerator.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your refrigerator deserves regular check-ups to keep it \u201chealthy\u201d. Here\u2019s what we recommend:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tip 1.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

EVERY MONTH OR SO:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Empty the fridge and clean the interior with an all-purpose cleaner or vinegar-based solution. Dark liquid spills will eventually leave permanent stains.<\/li>
  • Throw out expired and spoiled foods. Moldy citrus fruits sometimes give off a chemical smell.<\/li>
  • Make sure nothing is blocking the vents between the fridge and freezer; this is where the cold air flows from the freezer to the refrigerator section.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Tip 2.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    EVERY 6 MONTHS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Change the water filter to keep your water and ice fresh.<\/li>
    • Deep clean the fridge and freezer. Remove the shelves and drawers and do a thorough cleaning.<\/li>
    • Clean the drip pan located behind the floor level grate. Water flows into this during the defrost cycle and then evaporates. If there\u2019s liquid in the pan, something\u2019s not quite right and you should call Appliance Master for service.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Tip 3.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      ANNUALLY:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Clean the condenser coils. Dust and pet hair can settle on the coils and prevent them from doing their job.<\/li>
      • Inspect the door seal. Wipe it down, then use a small amount of petroleum jelly to keep it from drying out.<\/li>
      • Level the unit. Use a level to check all four sides of the fridge. If necessary, adjust the feet until the fridge is level.<\/li>
      • If you see ice build-up, defrost your refrigerator or freezer. Then adjust the settings to prevent future frost build-up.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
